About Me
I'm a student and lover of symbology, and I've been playing and working with Tarot and other archetype-oriented systems for many years. The oracle decks I've created and the Tarot deck I'm working on now are the culmination of a lifetime of seeking, contemplation, and creative meaning-making.
Synthesis is my guiding principle, one fitting not only to collage but also to my other favorite creative medium, writing poetry and prose. Everything is connected to everything if you learn how to perceive it. To this end, I try to live by the poet Keats' concept of "negative capability": "The ability to rest in mysteries, uncertainties, and doubts, without any irritable reaching after fact or reason."
Despite this, I do get irritable.

How to Transfigure the World

Have a story
that doesn’t follow
accepted rules,
that can’t be written
straight, a broken one,
scattered fragments no one wants
to gather. Preverbal trauma
is a good place to start.
Think in color. Feel over
thinking. Take things
out of context. Assess the value
of images for their ability
to be removed. Open junk mail.
Court paradox. Love the mess
as much as cleaning it up. Realize nothing
is sacred, take scissors to it - everything
is sacred, glue anything to anything.
It’s all connected
now.
Don’t recycle
magazines. Lug them around
in crates for eons. Order
random catalogs, don’t buy
anything. See words as
images, images
as words. Don’t mind
sticky hands.
Consider all surfaces fair
game - tables, mirrors, walls.
Mark your calendars,
maps, gift wrap. Vehicles.
Delight in the scent and feel and sound
of paper, but don’t stop there: add
feathers, keys, pennies or
what have you.
When it’s done, stand back and see
more than what you meant.
Understand face value
is a spin. Ceci n’est pas

about art. Thank the trees.
